Coffee Spoons Comics
From 2010 to 2013, I co-edited, published, and designed a comics anthology with Kate Drwecka. We used it to promote our comics collective of the same name. It included work from New York Times illustrator Maëlle Doliveux, Ignatz Award nominee Daryl Seitchik, Li-Or Zaltzman, Sally Cantirino, Kate, and myself. My favorite issue to work on was probably our third, which we packaged to look like a 45 rpm record, complete with an outer and inner sleeve.
Columbia Daily Spectator
As a college student, I worked as a staff member of the Columbia Daily Spectator, as well as its weekly magazine, The Eye. I helped supervise our graphic design and illustration work, and I also served on the team that put together Eyesites, the humor page of The Eye.
In 2011, I co-edited a 20-page newspaper with The Sequential Artists Workshop Executive Director and cartoonist, Tom Hart. I interviewed award-winning artists Gary Panter and Dash Shaw and wrote several other articles as well. Tom Hart described our newspaper as a “love letter to the [New York City] comics scene”, and it was a really fun publication to work on. It was also used as a means to promote Hart’s new comics school to the greater comics community.
